Boot Düsseldorf 2024 - new electric motors

Boot Düsseldorf 2024 - our impressions

During the boot Düsseldorf 2024, we visited the stands of ePropulsion and Mercury on the first day. Afterwards, we searched for the latest electric boat motors and announcements for the year 2024.

We have listed all the stations here in the blog for you. Enjoy reading!

EPropulsion eLite - the sensation of 2024!

The ePropulsion eLite will fundamentally change the sector of drives for inflatable boats, dinghies and even kayaks/canoes. With 500W of power, it can propel a conventional inflatable boat up to 6-7 km/h. With the boost function of 750W, even more is possible for up to one minute!

The 378 Wh battery lasts for 45 minutes at full speed, 1.5 hours at half power or even up to 3.5 hours at only 100W. That's more than enough for many trips with the inflatable boat. The next larger ePropulsion Spirit 1.0 PLUS has four times the capacity with 1,276 Wh and twice the power with 1,000 watts.

The big advantage is ultimately in the weight and price! The motor alone weighs only 6.7 kg, with bracket only 7.9 kg. At a price of 1,099€, the eLite is now the cheapest outboard motor with an integrated battery and a small quantum leap!

We haven't even mentioned a variety of features yet: improved display, extendable tiller, adjustable tiller height, trim and tilt, click system for mounting and much more. A pre-order is possible on the eLite page, but the number of units is limited!

Ilmor ION electric outboard with 6 kW

Quite unexpectedly and positively surprising was the sight of the 6 kW outboard motor from Ilmor shown here from the USA! Currently, most electric outboard motors are sold in the lower power range up to 10 kW, and there are more and more attempts to bring new products to market.

With the ION, the LED strip stands out in particular, and the color can be adjusted as desired. ;-) Looking at the technical details, the integrated power tilt/trim also catches the eye, which could be of interest to some boat owners. We cannot currently say whether and when the motor will come to Germany - but it will certainly not be a bargain.

Torqeedo - New product design

At Torqeedo, the focus was less on the products in Düsseldorf. Much more explosive was the news that Torqeedo has now found a new owner with Yamaha. After many years with the German corporation Deutz, Torqeedo now finds a nearly perfect strategic fit with the outboard manufacturer Yamaha from Japan.

Torqeedo has already caused a stir at METS Trade in Amsterdam and presented the updated product line of Torqeedo Travel and Torqeedo Travel XP. At boot Düsseldorf, a new design for the Torqeedo Cruise 12 and the Deep Blue outboard was added.

As a dealer, we have high expectations and are curious about the future of the Torqeedo brand.

Mercury Avator 75e and 110e

Due to the current cookie settings, the Youtube video cannot be displayed.

Mercury introduces Avator 75e and 110e

The entire Avator family will come together for the first time at boot Düsseldorf 2024: 7.5e, 20e, 35e, as well as the brand new 75e and 110e. The three smaller models are available now, while the larger models will likely take until summer 2024.

The construction looks extremely high-quality and the various functions will amaze boat owners compared to cheaper providers from China - but quality comes at a price.

The market leader in combustion engines has even announced another high-voltage line with more power. More information on the individual models can be found in our shop or on request!

Power, saildrives & pod motors from Mitek!

Mitek surprises with several news! For us, the new saildrives are honestly the most exciting. The application of an electric motor is perfect for sailboats and there is little competition. A perfect addition to the existing portfolio of inboards and outboards.

The saildrives bring plenty of power: 12 kW, 15 kW, 22 kW and 30 kW - each in 48V. The saildrives are based on the standard Yanmar leg and can be retrofitted in some cases with existing legs. In addition to the saildrives, there are also new pod motors in the performance classes: 5 kW, 7.5 kW, 12 kW and 15 kW. These are even better suited for slightly smaller boats.

Also new and above all impressive are the new large outboard motors with 45 kW (60 hp) and 60 kW (80 hp). Mitek, like Molabo, works with the Selva housing and thus relies on existing components.

Wolong electric motors for the first time at the boat show

Wolong was already present at some smaller fairs and therefore not unknown. At first glance, it looks like a new competitor for Torqeedo, ePropulsion and Haswing. The prices are supposed to be on the fair level of ePropulsion. Compared to the Spirit 1.0 PLUS, however, the battery is slightly smaller.

At many corners and ends, attempts were made to improve existing products a little. The control can be done either with a tiller or a remote control. The material of the shaft looks significantly higher quality, the click mechanism is relatively well thought out, and there is also an app with information about the motor, consumption and also a built-in map function.

I personally like the black design of the 1 kW Wolong motor better than that of other manufacturers - but it depends entirely on the boat! Whether it is practical at all remains to be seen. ;-)

The 6 kW and 40 kW outboard motors from Wolong look really impressive at first glance. We are particularly excited about the 1.5 kW pod. For many sailboats between 750 and 1,000 kg, there are not yet so many suitable solutions.

If you have any questions about Wolong outboard motors, please feel free to send us a short message!

BlueNav improves propeller technology

Extremely unexpectedly, a change appears at BlueNav: a significantly altered propeller shape and color. The new propeller blades are modeled after the fins and surfaces of whales. The surface of the propeller has some notches at the edges. The entire surface of the propeller has flow lines.

BlueNav learns from nature and with this technological innovation, according to its own statements, can achieve an efficiency increase of up to 20%. A truly completely new concept with unforeseen dimensions. Perhaps we will soon see similar concepts from other manufacturers - we remain curious!

However, the path is exactly the right one. It doesn't always have to be higher, faster, further. With the same performance and the same battery, much more can be achieved through improved efficiency.
