Battery Technology

Battery Technology, BT for short, is a manufacturer of lithium batteries from the Netherlands. BT also produces electric boat motors and drives for underwater vehicles and divers under the brand Rim Drive Technology. Water depths of up to 50 m and more are possible thanks to specially vacuumed construction. The modern internal rotors are very compact, efficient and have a high performance at low weight.

The special feature of BT boat batteries is a very low weight and an extremely compact design. With other manufacturers, comparable LiFePO4 batteries are usually much heavier and larger. The batteries are installed in a waterproof aluminum housing. Outside are 2 plus and 2 minus poles and carrying handles. Depending on the weight, you should work for the installation at least two or even with lifting gear or a forklift.

The batteries were developed specifically for use in the marine sector and continuously improved. The lithium batteries are vibration resistant, non-flammable and of course CE certified. They comply with all ISO standards that apply to watercraft.

We always recommend the matching shore power kit from Rim Drive. This allows you to create a galvanic isolation without making any major changes to the boat.

Rim Drive uses its own LiFePO4 batteries. The motors are perfectly matched to the lithium batteries. The batteries have by far the best price-performance ratio on the market and a comparatively light weight.

On the individual motors you can see which batteries fit because of the power and capacity. The bigger the battery, the better the price per kWh. The 48 V 200 Ah batteries are under 400€ per kWh.

The batteries can of course also be used with other motors. In the 48 V range, the batteries can be operated with the ePropulsion, WaterWorld or E-Tech motors. Aquamot and VETUS e-drives are also possible.

Most companies' displays cannot be used directly. We recommend with Battery Technology always a separate measurement of the individual batteries and the entire battery bank with a Messshunt.

The Dutch company Rim Drive Technology has electric boat motors from 0.5 kW to 30 kW power in the offer. The existing products are constantly being developed and new variants are added regularly. In total, RDT has been developing on the motors since 2018. The prices of the motors can really be seen in comparison to other suppliers!
